The Life I Was Told to Live
“I did everything they said.
I was kind. I was careful. I was strong. I waited. I stayed.
But the life I built from those instructions… doesn’t belong to me.”
Sometimes, life doesn’t work
because it isn’t ours.
We live someone else’s vision, carry someone else’s shame,
wear someone else’s mask.
And the tragedy is:
we don’t even realize it
until our body starts screaming
our spirit goes silent
and our soul begins to whisper:
“What would your life look like if it was truly yours?”
✍️ Self-Inquiry Prompt:
- What part of your life feels like it was given to you, not chosen by you?
- Whose rules are you following, even now?
- If you could write your own instructions — what’s the first thing you’d cross out?
