Sound & Mirrors
Each mirror has its own soundscape. Click a mirror to start or stop its sound.
You may leave several mirrors playing — their layers will overlap and create a deeper atmosphere.
If you prefer silence while reading, pause any mirror you’ve started.
Headphones recommended • keep volume low • unmute your device.
The glass is clear. Too clear.
You lean closer, expecting to see yourself —
but there’s nothing.
No eyes. No mouth. No trace you were ever here.
Only silence.
This is what happens when you leave yourself.
Part I – The First Lie You Learned to Live With.
You swallowed it so early you thought it was truth.
“You have to earn it — all of it. Love. Safety. Permission to exist.”
They didn’t know you.
But they gave you a label anyway —
“Too slow.” “Too loud.” “Not enough.” “Too much of the wrong thing.”
You wore it until it felt like skin.
It bent your spine.
It decided where you could go,
what you could want,
what you could never reach.
And some of it wasn’t even yours to begin with.
It was passed down to you like an heirloom —
the quiet sentence repeated over dinner,
the sigh that said “People like us don’t get to choose.”
Would you still recognise yourself without it?
Part II – The Face You Buried Alive.
You told it you were “growing up.”
It called it abandonment.
It was the face that still believed in impossible things.
The one that laughed without asking permission.
The one that wanted more than survival.
You covered it with layers —
rules that weren’t yours,
expectations you never agreed to,
smiles that didn’t belong to you.
You told yourself this was maturity.
But under the ground, it never stopped breathing.
It still knocks on the walls of your life when you’re alone,
and you call it restlessness.
Sometimes you hear it cry — not for help,
but for the pieces of you that went into the grave with it.
Part 3: The One You Left in the Dark
You closed the door so quietly,
no one noticed.
You didn’t lock it with a key —
you sealed it with years of pretending you were fine.
Inside, the air is heavy with everything you refused to feel.
Shame you didn’t earn.
Anger you were never allowed to show.
Grief no one stayed to witness.
They sit there, cross-legged, patient.
They have your voice.
They know every lie you tell to keep them hidden.
They’re not asking for revenge.
They’re waiting for the day you’re brave enough
to open the door,
let the light in,
and see exactly what you abandoned.
Ritual — The Return to Yourself
A gentle closing.
Close your eyes. Feel how far you’ve come.
The parts that waited in the dark are stepping into the light with you.
No enemy lives here, no threat, no judgment — only the self you are ready to welcome home.
Say to the first: “You are free now. I choose truth and gentleness.”
Leave blank if silence is kinder today.
Say to the second: “You can breathe and grow.”
Say to the third: “I see you. I won’t leave you again.”
There is only one heartbeat — yours.
NEVER LEAVE YOURSELF AGAIN.
